These prints are created by layering plant matter between sheets of heavy paper, binding them tightly, and boiling them in water for several hours with vinegar and iron oxide (rust).
The process transfers the natural pigments of the plants to the paper, creating unique imprints of the plants and wildflowers that created them. In some cases, natural dyes such as turmeric and beets are added to the mixture.
Creating these prints uses only natural materials and is ecologically-friendly. As this technique uses natural pigments, the colors in some prints may change as they age.
